The new home of Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, SIEPR, is a 35,000 square foot conference and office facility at Stanford University near the Hoover Tower. The building's two juxtaposed wings look into a planted courtyard for outdoor events. The detailing and materials of the exterior refer to the Romanesque architecture of the campus's original Inner Quad. The mission of SIEPR is to bring together visiting scholars and economists from the different Stanford departments such as history, political science, business, engineering, law, the Hoover Institute and The School of Medicine; with leaders from business, technology and government to analyze, discuss and debate ideas on economic topics. The SIEPR building provides offices, conference rooms and symposium spaces for these disparate parties in a setting in keeping with the spirit of the original campus in a state-of-the-art building that capitalizes on natural light and ventilation and the latest in building systems.
